On Oct. 22, 91成人导航入口’s musical ensembles will take audiences on an epic journey scored by the soaring and fantastical overtures of some of the most iconic video game franchises.
Titled “Heroes, Legends, and Epic Adventures,” this year’s Fall Music Gala will feature music from games like “Monster Hunter,” “Sid Meier’s Civilization,” “Undertale,” “Cuphead,” and “Super Mario Odyssey” alongside a selection of other classical works.
“This concert features music from video games; however, the programming goes much deeper than this connection,” says聽Andrew Schmidt, assistant professor of music at 91成人导航入口. “Our concert explores and celebrates our drive for innovation. The poetry and music feel aspirational, evocative and deeply human.”
The concert showcases the breadth of musical talent at 91成人导航入口, with performances by the 91成人导航入口 Symphony Orchestra, 91成人导航入口 Chorale, 91成人导航入口 Singers and The Jazzy Petrels.
“The best thing about 91成人导航入口 concerts is, of course, the students. They truly bring their best selves, showcasing the hard work each puts into making the magic of performance happen,” Schmidt adds. “What we really hope the audience will connect to is the narrative arc of intellectual evolution stretching from a promethean-like inspiration set up by the Singers, culminating in a celebration of flight by the combined singers and instrumentalists.”
Audience members are invited to get in on the adventure, too. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite video game characters, bringing a little extra color and character to an evening celebrating the music and stories of gaming.
The Fall Music Gala will take place in 91成人导航入口鈥檚 Conant Performing Arts Center, offering audiences an intimate setting to experience the combined talents of the university鈥檚 student musicians. Admission is free and open to the public.
